What a day this was! 3 families – 10 children (6 were ours and 2 of theirs were missing) plus a field of dirt, mud and the possibility of diamonds!
This was one of the rare moments she let me put her down. Lots of people, unsteady ground, I can see how it was intimidating.
It didn’t take long for the younger ones to discover a trail.
When I agreed, I didn’t know the trail was 1.2 miles. While carrying a sleepy 17 month old. Lesson learned – read the trail head because Google doesn’t show trails.
The only positive side to spring tornado storms – the next day everything sprouts green!
The big boys took digging seriously!
Love this! After lunch Mr took the baby… who went back to sleep. So daddy found a nice spot and joined her. I took that as an opportunity to dig around a little.
A needle in a haystack mixed with a slot machine feeling. Just one more shovel full could reveal the precious stone…
But none were found that day, nor the day before. Hopes of finding the Big One dashed… for now.
On the way home we decided to hit up the new store.
Finding a couple of diamonds sure would have come in handy to get this beaut!
A lovely and exhausting day.

I am a big fan of the Kelty pack to carry little ones. My boys spent a lot of napping hours in those things. We have a place like that near here but you dig for crystals of some type. We have never actually dug around although we did hike there a couple times.
